International News: Israel has attacked six countries in addition to Palestine during the past two years of the Gaza War. While it reduced Gaza to rubble, its heavy bombing in Lebanon and Syria has razed dozens of buildings to the ground. Now, another Muslim country has come under its target, as Netanyahu's speech at the UN on September 26th indicated. Netanyahu's speech to the United Nations General Assembly on September 26 explicitly included Iraq among the countries where resistance groups would face Israeli consequences. This suggests that the Israeli military is preparing to attack Iraq as well.

West Asia is already grappling with growing instability, and Iraq has once again become a focus of regional unrest. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued direct threats to Iraqi resistance groups from the United Nations, raising questions about Israel's motives and messaging.

Responding to Netanyahu's speech, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein condemned the threats, calling them unacceptable and saying that any attack on any Iraqi citizen would be considered an attack on the entire country.

What did Netanyahu threaten at the United Nations?

Netanyahu delivered his speech at the UNGA on September 26. The hall emptied during his speech, with only Israeli members remaining to applaud. During his speech, he pulled out a map and listed the countries where resistance groups are present. These countries include Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq. Iraq has been struggling with war for many years since the US invasion, and this threat has once again created a stir throughout Iraq.

There are numerous militant groups in Iraq, many of which are claimed to be part of Iran's Axis of Resistance. Israel views these groups as a threat and is using them to destroy another country.

Any attack against Iraq would be costly

Speaking to the Al Mayadeen Iraq news outlet, Iraqi politician Abu Mitaq al-Masr described Netanyahu's threats as absurd and born of weakness. He added that Netanyahu has failed to achieve a decisive victory in Gaza or secure the release of prisoners. He is making such statements to cover up this failure. Another leader, al-Masr, said any attack against Iraq would push the occupation (Israel) into an even more costly quagmire.
